Love is in the air! Make your loved one something from the heart this Valentine’s Day. And did we mention it’s also an aphrodisiac? This dairy free dessert contains figs that can increase sexual stamina and the dark chocolate releases dopamine and tryptophan promoting a feeling of relaxation. 

Fig & Chocolate Mousse With Homemade Vanilla
Making your own vanilla is easy! Simply cut into the length of the vanilla bean and scrape off the pulp into 1 cup of dark rum. Cut pieces of the remaining vanilla bean and completely immerse in the rum. Melt ½ cup dark bitter sweet chocolate in a double boiler and hold on the stove-top.

  1. ½ cup good cocoa powder
  2. 2 dried mission figs (stems removed)
  3. ½ cup maple syrup
  4. ½ tsp. balsamic vinegar
  5. zest from one orange
  6. juice from one orange
  7. ¼ tsp. gluten free soy sauce
  8. ½ tsp. home made vanilla
  9. 1 ½ tsp. freshly ground coffee beans
  10. ¼ tsp. cinnamon
  11. 1/2 cup melted bitter-sweet chocolate
  12. 1 avocado
  1. In a blender, combine the cocoa powder, dried mission figs (stems removed), maple syrup, balsamic vinegar, zest from one orange, juice from one orange, soy sauce, home made vanilla, freshly ground coffee beans, cinnamon and melted bitter-sweet chocolate.
  2. Then add one avocado.
  3. Watch to see when the mixture begins to look more like a pudding. If you want to thin it out just add some coconut milk. You can stage this dessert in a parfait or martini glass and garnish it with some fresh tangerines and pomegranate seeds.
