The lemon-drop cocktail became popular in the 80’s when vodka truly burst on to the scene, but its humble beginnings are from a small bar in San Francisco in the 70’s. There are many different variations of this classic cocktail but keeping it simple and fresh is best, and, here at Travaasa, we are doing just that. Our simple yet elegant libation is a unique variation of this summer cocktail that looks almost as good as it taste. Keeping true to the roots of both the lemon-drop and Texas we are starting with a locally distilled vodka (or anyone that you personally prefer) and mixing it with FRESH squeezed grapefruit juice, Mexican mint marigold, and one teaspoon of sugar.  Put all the ingredients in a shaker with ice and shake it 10-15 times and strain into a sugar rimmed cocktail glass, garnished with a candied grapefruit triangle.

Mix it yourself:

1.5 ounce vodka
1.5 ounce fresh grapefruit juice
3 sprigs Mexican mint marigold
1 tablespoon fine grade sugar
1 scoop ice
Shake 10-15 times, strain and serve into a chilled martini glass
Garnish with a candied grapefruit triangle
